Windows Installation Instructions for CORT HRMS software

You will have received your new custom font for your CORT HRMS applications as a .ttf or .otf file.  Simply save it in a convenient location on your hard drive - it might be best to create a new directory called c:\E-Signature to store your custom fonts.

If replacing an existing font with the same name, ensure you exit all applications and then remove the old font from the c:\windows\fonts directory. Failure to exit all applications first may in fact not erase the old font.

Begin by opening the Control Panel. To do so, click on "Start", "Settings" and then finally "Control Panel".  For Windows XP, click on "Start" and then "Control Panel"

click on start and select control panel

A new window will open. This is the control panel which allows you to control many of your computer's options (your screen may display this folder differently depending upon how your "view" options are set). We want to now open the "Fonts" folder. Do so by double-clicking on the "Fonts" Folder:

select the fonts folder

The following window will appear. Do not be concerned if your fonts are not displayed with large icons such as below. To install your font, select "File" and then choose the "Install New Font..." option.

choose install new fonts

A window such as the one below will appear. If you stored your font in the C:\E-Signature directory, choose this location by selecting C: as your drive and then the directory. If you saved your .ttf file elsewhere, locate the appropriate directory. Your font's name will appear on the top left box. Click on it and then click "OK". Your font will now be installed on your system.

select your font

To access your signature, type the character you specified on the order form or the standard character for Cort fonts which is ALT 0167 (keep the ALT key depressed while typing the numbers).  Then, select the resulting character that appears on screen, (pass your mouse over it) and convert it to your font. Resize as necessary (note that 72 points is equal to one inch). In most applications, you can type in a point size higher than 72 point size if necessary.
